Local stories, told Swell
Swell Magazine is a local Newcastle Publication, written as the perfect companion for your sunny Sunday morning. Designed as a collector’s item, the pages of Swell are to be enjoyed slowly and devoured and returned to time and time again, just like your favourite book.
We’re all for celebrating the city we love and the community we’re a part of.
We’re storytellers, explorers, creatives and passionate about our postcode.

Meet the team
Swell Magazine is the sister company of Design Bug, a creative agency that has been building business brands in Newcastle for over 10 years.
Kristy Coady
Editor & Co-Creator
As the dreamer of the duo, Kristy throws big-hearted belief behind each and every idea. When it comes to taking leaps, she’s at the front of the diving board, already excited for the next big adventure (as long as there are snacks involved).
Words to live by: “Less is always more – when it comes to design that is.”
Rebecca Geraghty
Editor & Co-Creator
The team at Swell are very thankful that Bec decided not to pursue Marine Biology (due to a love of dolphins and not much else) because without her, the pages of Swell would just not be possible. Bec is a web-wizard and never leaves a job unfinished (except when she’s procrasta-cleaning).
Sance Lord
Business Development & Advertising
Sance is 100% team Swell 100% of the time, and is responsible for all things business development, advertising, and distribution. If you’re a fan of Swell or have advertised with us previously, you would have definitely had a chinwag to Sance and heard all about how great you are, and just how much she loves Swell Mag.
Words to live by: “Don’t waste a walk.” (usually related to making tea)
HANNAH MILLS
Marketing & Content Strategist
Hannah’s first foray into the magazine world was at the age of 14 when her and her bestie created the highly sought after title – ‘Glitz and Glamour’ mag. It involved a self-directed photoshoot in the Grace Bros change rooms and an incredible overuse of Microsoft ‘Curlz’ font. Let’s just say she’s come a long way, and having written stories for Swell since the first issue, Hannah is now making it her mission to take our content and marketing to the next level (please like and subscribe).
Words to live by: “Be curious, not judgemental.”
