Since the very beginning, Swell has been about slowing down. About choosing stories you can sit with, turn over in your mind, keep on the bookshelf or carry with you (forever, we hope!)
We’ve always believed that real connection takes time and that stories told with care are worth making space for. But for Issue 24, we’ve decided to put that belief front and centre. This one is all about slow living. And not just as a concept, but as a lens through which we explore creativity, community, business and everyday life.

Inside Issue 24, you’ll:
- Meet a joyful, intuitive artist whose work reminds us to create for the feeling, not the deadline
- Step inside a thoughtfully styled beachside home that feels like a holiday - without leaving the neighbourhood
- Visit a harbourside restaurant that’s using fine dining methods in a fuss-free way, with meals made to linger
- Hear from an award-winning Hollywood film director about what it means to be mindful in a fast-paced industry, and what it’s like to return home after many years abroad
- Wander through an inner-city backyard oasis giving staycation a whole new meaning
We’ve also brought back an old favourite: Shop / Savour / See, last seen in Issue 6. It’s had a glow-up, and it’s ready to guide you through the region again.
This is our gentlest issue yet. A reminder to be where your feet are, to notice what’s around you and to resist the pull to keep up, scroll on, or move faster. We can’t wait for you to read it!
