Best coffee in Merewether?
I’m usually on the run so the drive through coffee, Bostin Brew Co, on Glebe road is my usual. If I have more time I will pop into Paper Run Espresso Bar on Ridge Street.
Where do you go for a quick bite between appointments?
Sushi Revolution on Darby. I can be in and out in less than ten minutes. I am probably there at least once a week!
Best place to catch the sunrise or sunset?
I love an early morning walk down to Merewether Beach. There is something so breathtaking and calming about seeing the sunrise and smelling the ocean air.
A hidden gem in The Junction?
It’s not so much hidden but Lotus Corner is our go-to. My husband and I have been going for over 20 years and the service is always spot on. I am also excited to try the new wine bar, Cara, in the Junction Village. I have heard good things.
Go-to spot for a weekend walk or swim?
I am obsessed with walking my dog Yogi off leash, so I am often at the Redhead beach off leash area for a nice long walk after work on Saturday.
If someone’s new to the area, where should they start exploring?
There is something fairly iconic about the walk along Nobby’s break wall and the Foreshore Park area. Customs House is always a great spot to stop for a bite to eat too once you’ve worked up an appetite, and you can’t beat a lazy afternoon picnic with friends or family at King Edward Park.
Describe a perfect Saturday in Merewether.
I am mostly running around doing open homes on Saturdays which is my favourite day of the week given we get to meet so many people. The day always goes so quickly.
Favourite thing about Newcastle city right now?
I think we have one of the most beautifully unique cities in the world, which is pretty wild to say. I can’t think of another place that has a working harbour and two world-class beaches all within a ten-minute walk of each other. We are pretty lucky to have all of this at our doorstep.
Favourite place to take out-of-towners for a night out in the CBD?
The rooftop bar at the QT Hotel for pre-dinner drinks, followed by Bistro Penny for a mouth-watering meal you will think about long after you’ve taken your last bite.
