This house is the perfect example of the power of styling! A clever use of vintage furnishings, bold wallpaper choices, a nod to Palm Springs and an abundance of indoor plants make for a bold, vibrant space that’s brimming with personality. Let’s take a tour of stylist Maret Larnach’s home.
Who lives there?
Maret, Jason and our son, plus our three dachshunds – Echinacea Tinkerbell, Little Moon and Uno Mahalo. A special mention goes to our fourth fur baby, Fern, who is sadly no longer with us.

Favourite room in the house and why?
I would say the lounge room, because it’s where we spend most of our time hanging out. It’s a sunken lounge, so there’s a step down to it. This was one part of the house that really appealed to me, because of my love for mid-century architecture (sunken living rooms were big back then). We spend a lot of time hanging out on the steps too.
Favourite piece in the house and why?
This changes all the time because my style is constantly evolving, but at the moment it’s probably the orange velvet lounge that I recently purchased from Newcastle-based upholstery business – Upholstrei. It’s a vintage modular piece and it’s perfect for the room.

What do you love most about living where you do?
The space is just amazing. We’re on a main road, but once you’re inside the front door you would have no idea. The house looks out onto a few acres of greenery, which is very special. I also love the fact that we have our warehouse on the property, which has been increasingly important as the business has grown. Jason built it, which has saved us a lot on the cost of overheads and makes things a lot more practical.
